Niykee is a song-writer and songwriter who, even with her recent hectic career, has kept her routine. Her personal highlights have been being selected by Snoop dogg as his private assistant at the YouTube Brandcast event in May 2013. She is a constant magnet for producers who are just starting out. Many of the beats she receives spark song ideas. "I'll be able to discern within 5 seconds if it's a good beat. When I've got a melody in my brain I'll begin writing straight away." I sit on my backyard with my guitar and the words appear and it's usually completed in less than 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She notes how her experiences of suffering during her childhood has served as an infinite source of unusual motivation. "Even when I don't write about my own life in the open the grief of losing my sister and the pain of my childhood experiences are integrated into my music," she says. It shapes my songs and creates a deeper understanding behind all things that's among the most significant things to me--I need to know that I could hear any of my songs in 20 years down the road and be proud of what I wrote.
